30-Day Challenge

This was inspired by a TED talk from Matt Cutts

One great way to start a new habit or reach a big goal is to start with a tiny daily action. Maybe you want to improve your health, show up better for your kids, or write a book. You’ve always wanted to make a change, but you did not know where to start. This is it. Start today. Here are four steps to making a lasting change.

Leave a comment below and share what tiny step you will take today.

  1. Pick a small daily practice – This should be something you can complete in 5 – 15 minutes. It will be much more effective if your practice is positive: Write three things that made you smile today, take two extra flights of stairs, spend five minutes in prayer or meditation, or a enjoy a ten minute walk.
  2. Write down what and why – By writing down what you are doing you are making a commitment to yourself, share this with some supportive family and friends.
  3. Do the practice daily – Set aside time each day for your practice. This is time to take care of yourself so you can be there for others. If you miss a day, don’t give up. Just come back the next day and start again.
  4. Share your success – Let someone know you did it. Text a friend, email me, tweet about it, or tell your mom.

With these tiny steps you can reach goals that seem too big and meet challenges to hard to complete. Once you complete your first 30-day challenge, repeat the process again. Each journey begins with a single step. Take one tiny step today!
